spinning around--
Check this out! It's waaaaayyyyyy cool man.

And some of you thought it was impressive that I can spin my pen with both hands. Now that's some good pen spinning! Woot.

If you noticed, there's been a couple of small alterations to the blog. The text area is widened and the font sized has been increased in a bid to save all your eyes. Hah! The previous one was pretty tiny I realized.

As I type this, it's slightly more than 28 hours to the end of this year. So for those who felt that you haven't written the date as often as you should have, write some New Year cards or something, cos in 28 hours 2007 will be history. Yesteryear. Bygone days. Days of yore.
wo shi cheena pok--
Something's happening to me: I'm becoming cheena! 2 people commented that I'm more cheena than potato today and honestly I don't know if that's good or bad. Over the past few years I hear stuff like 'wa, you very kan tang leh', and I'll go 'nope, just that whatever language I know or speak I'll wanna do it the right way.' Then I'll go on rambling some Chinese in a bid to prove myself.

Interesting then that the opposite happened today so now I'm trying to figure out what caused it. NTU! Hah. After sitting resolutely on the fence between cheena pok and potato for as long as my memory serves me I've found myself leaning towards the Eastern camp. For those who didn't know, in my 12 years of education prior to university and then 2 years in NS I've been in a predominantly Chinese environment. The culture is that way, and most of my friends converse in Mandarin. Plus 22 years of Mandarin speaking at home as well. Never thinking that any amount of excessively cheena or kan tang surroundings will change my position as a perfect bisector, I was wrong. NTU did. The force is really strong with this one. I want to be neither cheena nor potato.

Ok, forced to choose I'll probably have to go with being kan tang cos you know, potatoes are yummy and so am I. HAHAHAHA!!!

Ok I suppose there are people who're concerned about my grades because I'm under academic probation already. So here goes.

Stats B+
Mechanics of Materials F
Soil Mechanics C+
Fluid Mechanics C
Physics II D
Lab B+
Drawing Lab B+

Calculation will let you know that I scraped through the GPA 2.0 mark for safe passage. Unfortunately my cumulative score is still too pathetic, so very soon I'll be talking to the academic officers about continuing my studies.

That's it for exams. On another note, Christmas is over and so is my birthday, so thank you all for your wonderful well wishes and gifts. If this Christmas wasn't fabulous for you reading this right now, don't worry it's not the end of the world. Lol. Go party on New Year's eve to make yourself feel better!

22--
Happy Birthday to me! HAHA! I've said that birthday is like a normal day when friends are more generous but hmm, maybe it is kind of a good day cos it makes me happy that people care. Lol.

To the special people (you know who you are): my birthday means something because you exist, so I thank you. Very sincerely. :)

Thoughts on hitting 22. Not that much different from 21 really, but I have a piece of advice for those who're still in their teens. Exercise and watch your diet cos really, you CAN gain weight. Haha!

special dates--
Holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, ... Special dates. What do they mean to you? These dates are there to commemorate both happy and sad events, but unfortunately even on those that mark events that are supposedly pleasant, many a times they still bring about certain negative feelings. As these dates draw close, people tend to start to think about what they don't have, rather than those they do. Because these dates often create feelings of us wishing for things that are absent in our lives, be it lovers we've lost, friends we miss, family members we've lost touch with or feelings we want to feel again.

Of course there is still much to like about these times. Things like food, presents, and some people. But as human beings, insatiable creatures as we are, it's never enough. However difficult to satisfy one may be, there'll still be something who'll bring him alot closer to being a satisfied, and since it's 6 days to Christmas, I wish everyone finds that particular thing, person or feeling to bring yourselves to that level.

not quite superbad--
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

All you people who like the so called 'white trash' kind of humour just got to watch this movie. It's got your 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up brand of jokes and a certain F word is said in the 1 hour 45 mins about 20 million times. Ain't it Fantastic? By the way that wasn't the particular F word used in the movie so many times. Note: for those of you who've got parents who understand English, please do not watch when they're right behind you.

Secondly, there apparently is some club fanatic who looks like me. To all you friends who've spotted this dude, if you spot him again please take a photo of him and show it to me! Haha!

goodbye, dear old computer--
You stayed with me for more than 4 years, and through these years we've seen lots of fun and lots of work. Be it surfing, watching all my shows or chatting on MSN, rushing through lab reports, printing notes or replying emails, you were the electronic wonder that did it all. Of course your fan was a little noisy and you weren't exactly low maintenance (I bought you a new LCD companion and upgraded your RAM and also bought you a new graphics card because you burnt through yours), but our relationship simply blossomed.

Alas, all good must come to an end, and on Monday, without any warning whatsoever, you suddenly decided that it was time to leave me. I turned you on and 5 minutes later your image started blinking. I moved the mouse around but it refused to chase after anything on the screen. And there you went. Kaput. Gone. I rebooted and prayed for a miracle, because I refused to believe you'd be taken away so abruptly from me. You sputtered into life briefly for me to save some files and then passed away.

It was difficult when you were gone. I had to bring your little brother, the lappie, to Macdonald's to check my mail, because it was so troublesome to install the modem and whatever on it. How could you have left like that? Thankfully something else came into my life. In a new black chassis and a nice power button that glowed blue. So rest in peace my old PC, for you will be missed. Meanwhile, I'll just have to start building a relationship with the new one.

love--
We've heard alot about the national dragonboaters who lost their lives in Cambodia for the past couple of weeks. It is a tragic freak incident and of course triggered alot of comments like life is very unfair and unpredictable and of course, to show your love to the important people around all of us.

"Tell your family or friends or other halves that you love them now", reads many a journal. Messages like this can be seen all over when tsunami hit and when there was a terrorist in our neighbouring country. But why is it that people always urge their fellows to show appreciation for the important people in their lives only when major incidents that shake the community happens or when it's the holidays?

It's all well to send a nice hand-made card to friends during the holidays but isn't it even better to surprise him/her with a bag of home-made cookies out of nowhere? Well it's just a thought, but the latter kinda feels so much more special. And besides, there are many ways to show someone how much they mean to you, and alot of times it's not the material things that count.

Whatever the case, congratulations to those who still have the most loved around you, especially to those who've found the person you want to share your life with. Of course I'm talking about you, Violet. Congratulations my dear friend! :)

Once again Starbucks' annual fit of generosity is back and it's happening tomorrow! Just go to a Starbucks outlet, order any drink you want from 5-7pm and it's free. Or, it costs as much as you want it to be cos you can dump any amount into their box. All proceeds go to The Salvation Army, so at least give $2 la, don't be too cheapo! Hahaha!

hello again--
If anyone read my previous blog, you'd have realized it died half a year ago. Here comes the revived version. Woo! I don't know if I'll update this very regularly but let's see ya? If there's something to say I'll say. No guarantee this won't die a quiet death like the old blog though. Hah. Check back for the next post! :)
